Dart for Art is not an auction and not your typical cocktail party. Here’s how it works: as guests arrive each couple or single will be assigned numbers which will be used for the “Dart.” Guests will stroll through the gallery enjoying cocktails and meeting the artists, and previewing the various works of art. After cocktails, “darters” are called up in groups and you dart for your favorite piece of artwork. If your favorite has already been claimed, pick another. Everyone goes home with something!
Of course, Dart for Art has pivoted a bit during these past couple of years. With an online dart and a live preview to see the artwork in person, Dart for Art continues to be a fun, innovative signature event for the local charity, LymeLight.
Lymelight Foundation was started by 2 local families, both with children diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Through their children’s’ struggle, both families discovered the incredible expense of battling Lyme disease and the inability of many families to afford proper treatment. Unfortunately, most treatment plans for Chronic Lyme are not covered by insurance. Existing Lyme foundations mainly focus on funding research and awareness. LymeLight Foundation is uniquely dedicated to funding medical treatment for individuals with Lyme.
The Foundation awards grants to eligible children and young adults through 25 years of age. It is the goal and the hope of the Foundation that through these grants children can receive proper treatment and medications in their fight against Lyme disease
The 2022 Dart for Art takes place virtually on March 18, and their Pop-up Art Gallery will be open for viewing March 12 – 17 at 220 Primrose Road in Burlingame (the old Anthropologie store). Through this event, as well as other fundraising efforts by LymeLight Foundation, over $7,000,000 in treatment grants have been awarded to over 1,000 recipients. Kerns has been proud to sponsor Dart for Art since it began 11 years ago!
